May 17: From Nuremberg to Salzburg

The Main Train Station in Munich
In order to travel from Nuremberg to Salzburg, we had to switch trains in Munich. This, however, worked out as one of our group had left something behind in Munich and was able to recover the lost article, much to the relief of everyone. We then caught an Austrian train that took us to Salzburg.

Salzburg by Night
After arriving at the Salzburg train station, we caught a bus that took us to our hostel. After checking in and dropping off our luggage, we ventured out into the city, looking for something to eat. We ended up at the Braeustuebl Tavern, a brewery founded by Augustinian monks that has been in operation since 1621. We had a hearty meal of traditional Austrian specialties, including pork shank, potato salad, chicken, schnitzel and pretzels.

Following our meal, we then strolled through the city and saw it all lit up at night. On tomorrow's docket: the Hohenwerfen Fortress.
