Getreidegasse |
At the conclusion of our trip up the mountain to the Hohenwerfen fortress, we traveled
back to Salzburg. The group split up and everyone had some free time to grab some dinner and explore the Old City. The most famous street in the Old City is Getreidegasse, a narrow street filled with stores, cafes, and restaurants, all of which have to use traditional metal signs to advertise their business.
The Old City is an architectural marvel, filled with open squares and beautiful churches, all sitting under the city's fortress.

Two of the more impressive churches were St. Peters and the city's Dom.

We then met as a group and scaled our second mountain of the day, this time to get to the fortress that overlooks the city. There
we had a bird's eye view of Salzburg encompassed by a spectacular
sunset.
