Vienna Day One: The Scars of War (and Spaghetti Eis)
Through the beautiful park walkways lined with trees in the Augarten, we made our way to the Flak Towers.....ironic? Yes.
These massive, concrete structures were built during World War II by the Nazis to help defend the city from the Allied strategic bombing campaign. Once bristling with anti-aircraft guns, these concrete monstrosities now seem completely out of place in a park teeming with joggers and children riding bikes.
To end this eventful day, we stopped at an Eis cafe and had some of the best dessert ever, spaghetti ice cream. This was a perfect ending for a great day.
