The Wheeling Jesuit History Department would like to congratulate Erinn Garrison who won both awards given by the department at Wheeling Jesuit University's annual Senior Banquet. Erinn's senior seminar thesis, titled Fear and Knowledge: An Examination of the Vatican's Policies during World War II, won the Father Joseph P. Kennedy, S.J. prize, awarded for the most outstanding senior seminar paper.
Based on a wide-array of primary source material as well as a large sampling of the relevant secondary literature, Erinn produced a convincing analysis of the Vatican's war time activities. She also took home the Professor John T. Wack award for her inspired service to the department. Erinn's leadership of the History Club was tireless during the past year as she led the fundraising efforts for this year's trip to Vienna. Her efforts will be missed during the coming years.
