Vienna Day Eight: Country Roads (or Flight Paths) Take Me Home

After waking up bright and early, it was time to begin the long trip back to West Virginia. Our first stop was the Amsterdam airport, where students shopped, rested, and reminisced about the trip.

Everyone talked about their favorite part of the trip and looked forward to next year's excursion to Berlin. During our time in the airport,we presented Dr. Rutherford a small token of our appreciation for setting up the trip: a German book entitled Hitler gegen Stalin. Who wouldn't want such a gift?

After a slight delay in the flight from Amsterdam to Atlanta due to weather, students and faculty either slept or watched the in-flight entertainment for the 8.5 hour flight on KLM airlines.

Arriving in Atlanta at 8:30, we were forced to rush through the security, customs and the airport itself to catch our flight at 10:00. Some, however, found the time to purchase sodas for $1.25 after being shocked by the 3.00 euro price in Vienna. During the flight to Pittsburgh, students reminisced about the trip and discussed what they were most looking forward to when we got home. After picking up our luggage, we said our final goodbyes and everyone started their final trek home.
