Vienna Day Five: Musicians and Mass

During some downtime, a few of us decided to explore the city and went to the Zentralfriedhof cemetery to visit the final resting place of Beethoven. After walking to where we believed it would be, we discovered that we needed to travel by tram towards the outskirts of the city. Upon arrival, we found the cemetery to be massive in size with no end in sight.

It was so large in fact, that over three million individuals are buried there. We eventually made our way to the graves of Beethoven, Schubert, and a memorial to Mozart.

As luck would have it, we also stumbled upon the graves of Strauss and Brahms.

We closed off the day with mass at St. Stephen's, the massive cathedral that stands at the center of Vienna's old city.

Colored cellophane draped inside the windows provided a extremely interesting  complement to the cold stone of the gothic church.
